Williams Makes All-ACAA Team

MILWAUKEE – The American Collegiate Athletic Association released their annual All-ACAA Women's Basketball honors today. In their first season as preliminary members, the Mount Mary University basketball team's Erica Williams (Bloomington, Ill.) was honored by the ACAA after her stellar sophomore campaign.

Williams has been selected to the All-ACAA Second Team this season after the young forward helped her team set the new bar for her program. Winning 10 games this season, the 2018-19 Blue Angels now have the program's single-season record for wins. Williams was a major contributor this season in MMU's success on the court.

Not only did the second-year forward help her team achieve a new high, Williams finished the season with 245 rebounds. That rebounding total sets the single-season record for rebounds at Mount Mary University; Williams is now first and second on that list posting 226 in 2017-18.

Along with tallying nearly a third of the team's rebounds this season, Williams was responsible for 28 percent of the teams scoring. The sophomore forward averaged 15.8 points per game this season and led her team in scoring, rebounds, steals and field goal percentage.

With her consistent performances in the paint, not only did Williams average a double-double with 15.8 points and 11.7 rebounds per game, but she also recorded 11 double-doubles this season. Mainly a statistical peculiarity, those performances in fact translated into wins for the Blue Angels 7-of-11 times this year.

The ACAA also announced their yearly awards along with their full first and second team rosters. Of note, this year's ACAA Player of the Year was Madison Temple from Thomas More. This year's ACAA Coach of the Year Jeff Hans also represented Thomas More. Jhanel Brown of Valley Forge was named the ACAA Defensive Player of the Year and Katie Lundeen of Finlandia University was named the ACAA Rookie of the Year. (ACAA Release)
