Bulldogs Win at Home

ADRIAN, Mich. – The Mount Mary University basketball team lost to the Adrian College Bulldogs by a final score of 67-44. The Blue Angels move to 4-12 on the season while the Bulldogs are 6-8 after Wednesday's victory.

"In the first half we came out flat," added Mount Mary University Assistant Basketball Coach Shandrieka Richardson. "...but in the second half we showed what Mount Mary basketball represents."

Erica Williams (Jr./Bloomington, Ill.) led her squad with a team high in points and rebounds. Williams hit 8-of-10 from the free throw line on her way to ten points. On the glass, Williams pulled in a team high eight rebounds against the Bulldogs.

Lucy Pavelko (Sr./Muskego, Wis.) also helped lead MMU's offense against Adrian. Pavelko finished with 10 points hitting 6-of-8 from the free throw line. Pavelko and teammate Williams led the defense with a pair of steals each.

Nyasia Hardy (Fr./Fort Wayne, Ind.) kept the offense going tonight with a team leading six assists. Hardy added three points off the bench hitting 3-of-4 from the free throw line.

Adrian jumped out to an early 13-0 lead five minutes into the contest. Melissa Golo (So./Boise, Idaho) got the first basket for the Blue Angels at 4:40 in the first with a quick layup.

Aliyah Moore (Fr./Milwaukee, Wis.) added three more in the first quarter, but the Bulldogs went 8-of-17 from the field and 2-of-2 from the free throw line to grab a 19-5 lead after the first ten minutes.

In the second, the Blue Angels hit 5-of-8 from the free throw line as they attacked the defense and came away with multiple opportunities at the line. At the end of the second quarter, the Bulldogs held a 35-15 lead.

The Blue Angels went 1-of-13 from the field in the third quarter. MMU hit 2-of-2 at the free throw line, but still fell behind 47-19 at the end of the third when Adrian scored 12 points as a team.

MMU had their biggest offensive quarter of the night in the final frame against the Bulldogs. The Blue Angels hit 11-of-14 from the free throw line and shot 40.0 percent from outside the three-point line to score 25 points. Midway through the frame, the Blue Angels cut the deficit down to 12, but the Bulldogs held on for a 67-44 win. Lucy Pavelko scored all ten of her points in the fourth quarter as she tried to cut into that AC lead.
