Williams Wows ACAA

MILWAUKEE – The American Collegiate Athletic Association announced that Erica Williams will be the next ACAA Women's Basketball Player of the Week. Williams (Jr./Bloomington, Ill.) has led the Blue Angels offense all season long and tallied her eighth double-double of the season last week in MMU's win over Holy Family College. (ACAA Release)

Williams and the Blue Angels snapped their seven-game losing streak last Tuesday when they defeated the Holy Family College Lakers in a 67-51 contest at the Bloechl Center. Among the many stand-out performances, Williams came off the bench for the first time this season to post her eighth double-double this season. The junior forward scored 14 points to lead the bench in scoring, and pulled in a team high 13 rebounds against the Lakers.

MMU closed out the week of play on the road against the University of Wisconsin River Falls. The Falcons took the victory, but Williams did her best to get her team in the game. With a combined 20 points on the evening, Williams went a perfect 4-of-4 from the field in the fourth quarter against the Falcons. In last Saturday's game, Williams not only led her team in points, but she also pulled in a team high eight rebounds.

Williams has been named the ACAA Women's Basketball Player of the Week three times this season with a month left to go in the regular season. Williams and the Blue Angels will gear up for their first ACAA tournament appearance when MMU hosts this year's conference tourney. The Blue Angels are set to take on Aurora University Tues. Feb. 5 at the Bloechl Center at 6:00 PM.
