Blue Angels Make History

Blue Angels Make History

GREENFIELD, Wis. – In a season filled with "firsts", the best kind found the way to Mount Mary University golf on the Greenfield Park Golf Course. The Blue Angels won their first meet against rivals Alverno College making the first NCAA program to start 1-0 as a team at Mount Mary.

Leading the way for the Blue Angels was Michelle Argenzio (Sr./Brookfield, Wis.). The savvy senior finished with a score of 111 on the day. Argenzio finished just one stroke behind the event's leader Jazmin Vazquez who finished 41 strokes over par.

Even though the Inferno had the top score, the Blue Angels played team golf as the third through fifth place finishes were all within 3 strokes of each other. The group finish was strong enough to take the victory in the Blue Angels first ever golf event.

"I am in debt to them for putting themselves out there and saying 'I want to be a part of this!' Michelle, Sydney, Taylor, Ariel, and Maria." Coach Marc Heidorf continued, "They are what Mount Mary is all about: strong women, breaking barriers, and making a difference."

A profound accomplishment for a team that just began practicing as a group two weeks ago. The Blue Angels golf team is new to the NCAA ranks, and already they take home their first victory, a proud moment for all Blue Angels fans.

"For me, the victory came before we even started…" head coach Heidorf added. "Seeing these 5 ladies all in Blue Angel shirts, carrying Blue Angel bags approach the first tee box together... you couldn't pry the smile off my face with a crowbar."

The victory will keeps it momentum only until Sunday morning when the Blue Angels host their first ever home golf event at Currie Park Golf Course in Wauwatosa, Wis. First swings start at 9:00 am, as the Blue Angels rekindle their rivalry with Alverno.
