Inferno Edge Out Blue Angels

Inferno Edge Out Blue Angels

WAUWATOSA, Wis. – As the Mount Mary University golf team continues their inaugural season, they dropped a very close match to visiting Alverno College 486-489. The rivals' second matchup of the year was at Currie Park Golf Course on the sweltering day.

A very close event today for the Blue Angels, as the team just missed out on a victory by a matter of three strokes. Michelle Argenzio (Sr./Brookfield, Wis.) gave it her all, and posted an amazing 100 on the day. The 28 shots over par round for Argenzio, has a very good chance to be the very benchmark score that future MMU golfers try to beat.

Behind Argenzio's phenominal score, the Blue Angels had two newcomers post solid fourth and fifth place scores as Peyton Davis (Fr./Tracy, Calif.) scored 125 and Madison Ledda (Fr./Tracy, Calif.) finished with a 129 round.

"Great progress already in our second meet today. Maddy [Ledda] and Peyton [Davis] got their first taste of college golf and did fantastic!" Head coach Marc Heidorf went on about his senior's amazing performance, "Michelle Argenzio is so calm and steady on the course. It's fun to watch her mental approach. She will likely card a score this season will become and remain a program best for a few years to come."

The Blue Angels finished with some solid scores, but the heart of the Inferno lineup snuck away with the victory. As incredible the Argenzio finish is, Jazmin Vazquez (who defeat Argenzio by one stroke two days earlier) finished right behind the Blue Angel with a 101 score, which set the school record for Alverno for a single round score.

Behind Vazquez, Katelyn Bartlett scored a 116 and the sixth place finish went to Inferno golfer Katie Pavlic with a 132 score.

The rivalry is not over this year as the Inferno look to host MMU Sat. Sept. 12 at the Greenfield Park Golf Course. First tee-time is 9:00 am.
