Blue Angels Take Win

Blue Angels Take Win

GREENFIELD, Wis. – As the rivalry continues, the Mount Mary University golf team won another event over Alverno College at the Greenfield Park Golf Course with a final score of 524-545. That is the second win for the Blue Angels this season, giving them a 2-1 record in their inaugural season.

It was another big finish for the Blue Angels, and again a very solid finish for Michelle Argenzio (Sr./Brookfield, Wis.). Argenzio set an amazing 100 score in her last outing, today she ended the round with a 106, 37 over par. A third place finish for Argenzio since Carthage College had two individuals participate in today's event both shooting a 100.

The middle of the lineup again saves the Blue Angels, Peyton Davis (Fr./Tracy, Calif.) had a 134 score and took sixth place. Right behind Davis, Taylor Yordt (Fr./Omaha, Neb.) finished in seventh with a 136 score.

"More improvements in meet three of the year. Our pace of play and increased comfort level with the course led to improved scores." Coach Marc Heidorf went on, "Michelle Argenzio improved her score by five strokes from when she played this course just a week ago. The competitor in her still feels like she left some strokes out there, and that's what we like: allow yourself to be proud of your accomplishment, but never fully satisfied. That is how progress is made."

The new team has provided a big spark to begin their campaign. A 2-1 start in duals will give the team a bit of momentum as the season goes on. Looking ahead to their next event, the Blue Angels will face a tough Carthage College team.

The Lady Reds finished first of 16 teams in their opening event this season. MMU saw some of the team's top talent as individuals today, both with solid finishes, and six strokes ahead of Argenzio. That big test will come Sat. Sept 19th at Currie Park Golf Course with tee times starting at 8:30 am.
