Pioneers Take First

WAUWATOSA, Wis. – The Mount Mary University Golf Team hosted Carroll University today at Currie Golf Course. The Pioneers won team play 417-479 over the Blue Angels. Alyssa Schneider led the individual scores with 102 strokes on the round.

Blue Angel Jaqlyn Artman (Fr./Eldorado, Ill.) led her team for the third straight round. In her third attempt at Currie Park Golf Course, Artman trimmed down her card's score yet again while finishing fifth overall in individual play. This time, Artman took four swings off her previous round with a 108 today.


Teammate Courtney Furlow (So./Appleton, Wis.) came out of the turn focused as she had her best nine holes of the season. Swinging 67 in the first nine, and 59 on the back, Furlow's three bogeys helped her take four strokes off her round from Fri. Sept. 16.

After finishing two 350-yard par-4 holes with fives, Peyton Davis (So./Tracy, Calif.) also came out of the turn with a lower round in the back nine. Shooting 61 in the front and a 59 in back nine, Davis was just one stroke off her season's best.

Madison Ledda (So./Tracy, Calif.) had a strong finish on the day finishing with two bogeys, one of which was on a 377-yard par-4. Ledda's 126 on the round tied her for seventh place in individual play.

Following today's 18, the Blue Angels will head to Greenfield Park Golf Course to face rival Alverno on Sat. Sept. 24. The Blue Angels finished just ahead of the Inferno in the 2016 opening Mount Mary Invitational with a 505 team score. Stay tuned to mtmaryathletics.com for all updates.
