Rob Elliott New Head Golf Coach

MILWAUKEE – The Mount Mary University Athletic Department announced the hiring of their next head golf coach today. A member of the Professional Golfers' Association of America, Rob Elliott will take over reigns for MMU Golf effective immediately.

"The hiring of Coach Elliott marks an exciting new chapter in our very young Blue Angel Golf Program." Mount Mary University Director of Athletics Marc Heidorf added, "His impressive experience, not only of the game itself but also of teaching it to all age groups; immediately increases the growth potential of our current and future student-athletes."

Over the last five seasons, coach Elliott has been the head golf coach for Kettle Moraine High School. Coaching student-athletes of all backgrounds, genders and ages at KMHS, coach Elliott's expertise at the local high school level will bring not only a high level of tutelage, but a familiarity with local courses and trends as well.

Coach Elliott also started the Rob Elliott Golf Academy in early 2017. The academy is centralized in Oconomowoc, Wis. where coach Elliott works closely with players from junior to adult levels. Prior to that, Rob Elliott worked as a certified personal coach at GolfTEC-Wauwatosa, a national golf instruction firm.

Also a member of the PGA, coach Elliott has earned a spot to serve as Honorary President of the Wisconsin PGA for the last two years.

Achieving success at the local level, coach Elliott has decided to make the transition to collegiate coaching. "This is a team that is pretty new and young as golf goes." Elliott went on, "I saw this as a chance to help continue to grow the game but also be a part of a program from the start and help it to become a program that recruits want to be a part of."

A combination of playing and instructional experience will help bring the third year program to the next level. In his long career as a golf instructor, coach Elliott is also well versed in cutting edge teaching aids like the SkyTrak Launch Monitor and other precise instruments for breaking down swings.

"My philosophy has always been to help each of my players to achieve their best," said Mount Mary Head Golf Coach Rob Elliott. "Golf can be pretty frustrating, but I do not want the girls to focus on the negative, find the positive and do your best."

As the Blue Angels welcome coach Elliott today, they also look ahead for the season's opener on Sat. Sept. 2 at the Greenfield Park Golf Course. Stay tuned to mtmaryathletics.com for more updates on the Blue Angels in 2017.
