Blue Angels Tie School Record

MILWAUKEE – Despite tying the program's all-time team low score today at Currie Park Golf Course, the Mount Mary University women's golf team came in second in their dual against Carroll University. The Pioneers took the first place victory with a 371 team score, the Blue Angels top four scored well across the board to get their 442. CU's Kailey McDade took first place in individual scoring with a 76.

Following her record-setting performance last Friday, Jacqlyn Artman (So./Eldorado, Ill.) scored another low round. Her final score of 88 was just two strokes off her new record. Artman finished up her front nine with a birdie on a 381-yard par-5. The birdie flipped the proverbial switch for the sophomore as she went on to par five of her final six holes on her way to third place.

The Pioneers were able to place four of the top five individual scores to take the lead, even though multiple Blue Angels cut their scores down.

One of those Blue Angels who was able to cut her score down was Haley Jacquez (So./Oakley, Calif.) who shot a 110 on the day. Jacquez consistently hit throughout her 18-hole round, first with a 54 in the front nine, then with two bogies a 56 in the back nine. Her collegiate best helped her knock down her season average to 122.8 per 18-holes.

Another collegiate best, Kaylie Cook (Fr./Fairborn, Ohio) finished the day with a 121. The rookie shot for bogey on hole No. 8 and 13 which were her best holes on the day. Starting the season with a 155, Cook has continued to knock strokes off her final score and received her highest placement of the season at seventh today at the fourth Mount Mary Invite of 2017.

Courtney Furlow (Jr./Appleton, Wis.) executed extremely accurately on a number of holes on her way to a 124 on the day. Furlow controlled her game with nearly every par-3 on the course. The junior parred the first par-3 of the day on No. 5, then knocked in a birdie on hole No. 13. It was Furlow's first birdie of the season.

Elaina Smith (So./Milwaukee, Wis.) finished her second collegiate round of her career. The newcomer finished with 148. Her best hole on the round was a double bogey on hole No. 13.
