Muskies Finish First

NEW BERLIN, Wis. – The Mount Mary University golf team finished with a team score of 583 today at the Wisconsin Lutheran College Triangular at New Berlin Hills Golf Course. Lakeland University took first at the event in team scoring with a 391. Lakeland's Ali Wilson finished first in individual scoring with a 94.

Leading the scoring for the Blue Angels was Taylor Hienbuecher (Fr./Sycamore, Ill.) who finished in ninth place in individual scoring. The freshman's best hole was on a 308-yard par-4 when she drilled a bogey on the lengthy hole. After a consistent round, the young Blue Angel finished with a team leading 135.

Kirsten George (So./Fairborn, Ohio) turned in a 71 in her front nine today at New Berlin Hills Golf Course. The sophomore hit a bogey on hole No. 5 and shot a 74 on the back nine on her way to tenth place at the WLC Invite.

Hayley Smalley (Jr./Columbus, Ohio) finished in 11th place on the evening. In just her second NCAA round of golf, the junior was able to finish with a score of 149. Her best hole of the day was a double bogey on hole No. 7.

Finishing in 12th place at the tourney was Alexa Ahlgrim (Jr./Inverness, Ill.). This was the first collegiate round for the junior, and she was able to make improvements from her first nine to her final nine. After shooting a 79 on the first half, Ahlgrim hit a double bogey on a 335-yard par-4 that helped her trim her final nine holes to 75 for a 154 total.
