Blue Angels Finish First Tournament

OSHKOSH, Wis. – The Mount Mary University golf team finished their first multiday tournament in program history today at the Oshkosh Country Club. The Blue Angels finished twelfth in the large tourney. Erika Host UW-Oshkosh defended their championship from last year. Erika Priebe of the Titans took first place in individual play shooting 77 day one and 79 in the finale for a combined 156.

The Blue Angels saw a number of improvements in their second day of the season. Leading the way for MMU was newcomer Jaclyn Hofstetter. Hostetter (Sr./Darien, Ill.) finished her first collegiate round yesterday with a 129. Today, the newcomer to the Blue Angels knocked a significant amount of strokes off her 18-hole score. The senior ended today with a 118 for a total 247 on the day and 58th place overall.

Power-hitter Hayley Smalley (Sr./Columbus, Ohio) also made a major improvement from day one to day two. Smalley cut 10 strokes of her round score on Sunday. After the 121 round on the last day of the tournament, Smalley finished the tournament with a total 252 score.

Taylor Hienbuecher (So./Sycamore, Ill.) finished her first round of the season today with a 148. Teammate Haley Jacquez (Sr./Oakley, Calif.) collected a 151 in the final day of the tournament for a total tournament score of 280. Jacquez placed 64th overall in individual play.

The Blue Angels will have two weeks to prepare for their next event on Fri. Sept. 13 against longtime rival Alverno. The rivalry showdown will take place at Greenfield Park Golf Course beginning at 1:00 pm. For more information, news and updates go to MtMaryAthletics.com.
