Slow Start Leads To Loss

MILWAUKEE -- With the cold in the air, the Blue Angels had trouble getting hot on offense today. Mount Mary University lost to Rockford University 2-0 today at Mount Mary Field.

It was a game where the Blue Angels just could not get the ball out of their zone, and despite the Regents being down one player on the field, MMU still had issues controlling the ball. In the first half, the Blue Angels did what they could to slow down the Regents, but RU fired away at goalie Becky Onan (Fr./Grafton, Wis.) until the 40th minute when Chrissy Herman (Jr./Tinley Park, Ill.) scored making it 1-0 Rockford.

The second half would bring a change to goal for MMU, Marissa Rechlicz (Fr./West Allis, Wis.) got the call and answered with saves. One goal would sneak by at the minute mark making it 2-0.

MMU tried to push the ball out of the zone, but could only muster one shot on goal in the second half courtesy of Onan. Besides a few shots by Onan, and one wide shot by Nina Her (Sr./Milwaukee, Wis.) the Blue Angels had no offense to speak of.

In the loss to the Regents, it moves the all-time series between the schools to 3-2 Rockford. This is the first time the road team has won the contest in the series.

The Blue Angels are getting ready to host Robert Morris-Lake County. The contest is set for Wednesday Oct. 22nd, with kickoff at 3:30 pm on Mount Mary Field.
