Klotz Named By AD3I

OVERLAND Park, Kan. – Following her big offensive output during the week of Sept. 18-24, Allison Klotz (So./Port Washington, Wis.) has been named the next Association of Division III Independents women's soccer Player of the Week. The forward added six goals to her total this week on her way to the AD3I honor.

The Blue Angels (3-4-1) started last week out against Eureka College (0-5). Very quickly MMU and Allison Klotz started pressuring the Red Devils. Klotz found her first goal of the game just five minutes into the contest.

Just three minutes later teammate Becky Onan (Sr./Grafton, Wis.) set Klotz up again in enemy territory. Klotz promptly turned and fired to find the back of the net for her second goal of the game. Klotz added one more goal before half to get the rare first half hat-trick.

Klotz was not done on the day, however, the sophomore opened up the second half with another quick goal then she was able to set her teammate Karina Salgado (Jr./Chicago, Ill.) up for a goal later in the final half. That offensive outburst led MMU to a 7-0 win over the Red Devils.

In MMU's 2-1 loss to Blackburn (2-5), Klotz knocked in the Blue Angels lone goal of the match. Although it did not get MMU the win, it appeared to catalyze the team's efforts and that parlayed into a big win the following day.

Klotz scored the second game-winning goal of the week against MacMurray (1-6) in the Blue Angels week finale last Saturday. Salgado was able to get the ball in near perfect position on a cross for Klotz in Highlander territory. Again, with her speed and accuracy on the ball, Klotz riffled another shot into the goal and gave MMU a 1-0 lead which they would ride to a 2-0 victory.

Klotz now ranks first in the AD3I individual goals scored with 10. Klotz and the Blue Angels will get back onto the pitch this Friday when they host Grace Bible College (3-2-1). Live stats for the game on Sept. 29 will be available at mtmaryathletics.com.
