Klotz Earns AD3I Award

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Following her opening to the 2017 soccer season, Mount Mary University Forward Allison Klotz (So./Port Washington, Wis.) has been named the Association of Division III Independents Player of the Month for her work during September. Now second in the AD3I in goals scored (13) and third in total points (27), Klotz is on her way to a memorable year.

Klotz opened the month with the Blue Angels lone goal in their 2-1 loss to North Central University (4-6). Klotz and the Blue Angels quickly turned things around for day two of the annual Mount Mary Invite in their 3-2 win over Crown College (0-12).

Klotz helped guide her team to victory over Crown with two goals of her own, along with the game winning goal. A recurrent theme throughout September in fact, Klotz scored all three game winning goals in the month to give her team a serious lift; Klotz also scored the game winning goal in MMU's 4-1 win over rival Alverno College (1-12).

Klotz has two multi-goal games in September as well. In addition to the two-goal game against Crown, Klotz scored four goals against Eureka College (0-8). A memorable performance where the sophomore scored a hat-trick in the first 13 minutes of the game.

A tally of 10 goals, one assist and 21 points for Klotz in the month of September, the sophomore has already added to that explosive start with a three-goal performance against Alverno College.

The Mount Mary University soccer team is preparing for two games this week as they head to Berrien Springs, Mich. Tue. Oct. 10 to take on Andrews University (0-4). Then MMU will wrap the week up with a contest against Finlandia University (1-8-1) on Sat. Oct. 14 at 10:00 am. Live stats for Saturday's game can be found at mtmaryathletics.com.
