Warriors Shut Out Soccer in Season Opener

MILWAUKEE – The Mount Mary University soccer team kicked off its 2021 season Wednesday, falling to local foe Wisconsin Lutheran College 9-0 at MMU Soccer Field. Despite the rather lopsided affair, 10 of the 11 players in the game saw their first ever action in a Blue Angel uniform as the team looks to gain some integral experience early in the season.

Wisconsin Lutheran (1-0-0) possessed the ball for most of the game, and took advantage of a few Blue Angel miscues to put the game away early with eight goals in the first half.

MMU freshman Brianna Brown (San Diego, Calif./Hoover) faced a barrage of Warrior attacks all afternoon, recording 18 saves against 27 shots on goal in her first ever game in the keeper kit.

Now with one game under their belt, Mount Mary (0-1-0) will look to a two-game slate this weekend in the Upper Peninsula, battling Finlandia University Saturday and Northland College Sunday—both at FinnU's McAfee Field.
