Red Devils Burn Blue Angels in Sunday Soccer Showdown

EUREKA, Ill. – A pair of second half goals proved the difference Sunday as the Mount Mary University soccer team battled through miserable weather conditions at Eureka College, falling 2-0 to the host Red Devils at McKinzie Field.

Mount Mary (0-13-1 overall) managed just one shot on the afternoon, taken by sophomore Ashton Longazel (Menomonee Falls, Wis./Menomonee Falls) late in the second half.

Eureka (4-12), meanwhile, took 16 total shots, 11 coming on goal. Freshman goalkeeper Brianna Brown (San Diego, Calif./Herbert Hoover) recorded nine saves.

The Blue Angels will welcome a pair of Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference foes this upcoming weekend. MMU will host Finlandia University Friday, Finlandia will play Mills College (Calif.) on Saturday, and MMU will play Mills on Sunday. Games on all three days are slated for 1 p.m. starts.
