MILWAUKEE, WI – The Mount Mary soccer team opened the 2022 season hosting the Muskies of Lakeland University on Thursday. The Young Blue Angel team showed signs of potential but Lakeland proved too potent offensively, as they pulled away for a 12-0 victory.
The contest remained tied into the 14th minute when Hannah Brouch of Lakeland found the back of the net to give the Muskies a 1-0 lead. They would not relinquish the lead and added on for 7 first half goals and 12 for the match.
Under fire all day from the deep Lakeland side, first year goalkeeper, Dylan Christensen piled up 20 saves in her collegiate debut.
Offensively, Cate Mitchell had 4 shots on goal to lead Mount Mary, and Sam Reyes added 2.
The Blue Angels will look to bounce back quickly on Satuday, September 3rd, when MMU will host the Beavers of Blackburn College. The match is scheduled to begin at 4 pm and live coverage is available at www.mtmaryathletics.edu
