MILWAUKEE, WI – Coming off a draw against Alverno College, the Mount Mary soccer team looked to continue the positive momentum at home Sunday against Monmouth College. The visiting Scots had other ideas, they did not allow MMU to score and put up seven goals of their own to beat the Blue Angels 7-0.
Monmouth struck first in the match's sixth minute when Madison Walker found the back of the net. The Scots would build on the lead and never relinquish it in Sunday's contest. Dylan Christensen was once again stellar in goal for Mount Mary. She piled up 23 saves including stopping several strong chances by the Scots in close proximity to the net.
Mount Mary could not find much momentum offensively in the 90 minutes of play. Sam Reyes and Ashton Longazel provided the only shots on goal for the Blue Angels.
MMU (0-5-1) will be back in action next weekend as they head East for two matches. They will take on Grace Christian in Grand Rapids, Michigan, on Saturday, September 24th. MMU will complete the trip with a match against Defiance College in Defiance, Ohio on Sunday, September 25th.
