Andrews holds off Mount Mary 1-0

Milwaukee, WI- The Mount Mary soccer team had seen a definite improvement in their offensive attack over their last few matches.  Their consistent attacks on net continued Sunday against Andrews, unfortunately the Blue Angels could not find the back of the net.  The Andrews University Cardinals did only once, but that was enough to give Andrews the 1-0 victory on the day.

Mount Mary posted 14 shots on goal to only 11 for Andrews, the discrepancy in total shots was even more significant.  The Blue Angels recorded 27 shots to only 13 for Andrews.

Angie Gomez stood up to all but one Cardinal shot, Angela Nesmith scored in the 57th minute for what was the matches only tally.  Gomez recorded 10 saves on the day.

Mount Mary pressed Andrews for the duration of the match, Sam Reyes had eight recorded shots on goal and Ashton Longazel added 3.  Emily Hicks did not falter in net for the Cardinals unfortunately, she had 14 saves and pitched the 90-minute shut out on the day.

Mount Mary will get another crack at Andrews, in their next match in fact.  This time the two sides will meet at Andrews University in Berrien Springs, Michigan.  The match will be played on Friday, October 7th with at 12 pm central time start.  The match will be part of two game swing through Michigan for the Blue Angels.  They will also face Great Lakes Christian in Lansing, Michigan, on Sunday, September 9th.
