Blue Angels fall by one goal to Maranatha

Milwaukee, WI- Tuesday saw a rematch between the soccer teams of Mount Mary University and Maranatha Baptist University.  The two teams met on September 19th, and the Sabercats pulled out a 3-2 win in Watertown.  The rematch in Milwaukee saw another very competitive game.  Once again, the Blue Angels came out on the wrong end of a one goal decision, dropping the match by a 1-0 score.

The first half was scoreless, both sides had scoring chances but the defenses prevailed for the 0-0 tie at half.  The second half was much of the same, a back and forth contest in which both teams had chances to score.  Brianna Brown held her ground in net for the Blue Angels, piling up 14 saves.

Ultimately, the difference in the match was a goal scoring header by Chelsea Graham in the 76th minute.  The score came off of a corner kick and proved to be just enough for Maranatha to grab the road victory.

The Mount Mary soccer team (4-10) will play one final match to conclude the 2023 campaign.  MMU will travel to Ripon College to take on the Red Hawks on October 31st.  All live coverage will be available on www.mtmaryathletics.com
