MILWAUKEE – The Mount Mary volleyball team was swept in its home opener Thursday evening, falling to Northland International University 25-15, 25-19, 25-10 at the Bloechl Center.

The loss drops the Blue Angels to 0-11 overall.

The outside-hitting tandem of junior Sarah Wishau (Oak Creek, Wis.) and freshman Andrea Roell (Kingsford, Mich.) each tallied three kills apiece, but Mount Mary hit -.086 as a team compared to .176 for the Pioneers. Wishau led MMU with 11 digs, while junior Katie Edwards (Mackinaw, Ill.) added nine.

The service line was especially unfriendly to Mount Mary, as the Blue Angles handed away 12 points on service errors.

After playing its first 10 matches on the road, including long weekend trips to Indiana and Michigan, Mount Mary will head into October by playing eight of the last 12 matches in the Bloechl Center. The Blue Angels will host rival Alverno Saturday in a 5 p.m. matchup.
