MILWAUKEE – The Mount Mary volleyball team still looked as if it were on break, returning from a one-week hiatus Tuesday night against Maranatha Baptist Bible College. The Crusaders cruised to a 25-5, 25-10, 25-18 sweep—their second over the Blue Angels this season.

Mount Mary came out very flat in the first set, as Maranatha could run pretty much whatever it wanted on offense. The Crusaders hit a blistering .516 in the first set alone—a season-high for a Mount Mary opponent. The Blue Angels struggled to get much going, tallying just four kills and five points in the set.

Maranatha surged in set two to an early 7-0 lead and never looked back, eventually blasting to a 25-10 win. The Crusaders bettered that feat by opening an 8-0 lead in the third set and was up 14-1 at one point. However, Mount Mary took advantage of some MBBC substitutions to reel off eight straight service points by junior Katie Edwards (Mackinaw, Ill.), closing to 16-11.

A pair of Crusader attack errors tightened the third set to 17-14 but it was as close at MMU would get, eventually falling in sweeping fashion.

Junior Sarah Wishau (Oak Creek, Wis.) led Mount Mary with six kills on the night and added a team-high 13 digs to her resume. She also tallied 4 assists—second only to Edwards and freshman setter Phoenix Hulsey's (Wauwatosa, Wis.) six. Edwards also recorded three service aces while Hulsey added double-digit digs with 11.

Mount Mary will host Moody Bible Institute Thursday at the Bloechl Center. Game time against the Archers is slated for 6:00 pm.
