ASHLAND, Wis. – The Blue Angels lose opening matches against Concordia University Chicago (0-3) and tournament host Northland College (1-3).

Mount Mary University starts off the Northland College tournament 0-2 with two tough matches. The Cougars would not relent on the offensive side, in a quick 3 set match (25-22, 25-12, 25-12). The Blue Angels would have little time to turn around and be put to the test against Northland College.

MMU would duke it out against Lumberjills. The first set would be taken by Northland College in a back and forth 25-22 set. The Blue Angels would flash their resilience as they would reverse tables and win set 25-21.  That would be the last winning set of the night for the Blue Angels as they would fight back, but not quite overcome the Lumberjills offensive attack. Northland College would win the last sets 25-13 and 20-25.

In the second match, Payton Hintz (Fr./Almond, Wis.) would lead the way for the Blue Angels with three serve aces and 12 assists for her team. Hintz would add six kills for her offense, one block solo and three block assists to fill out her stat line.

Sarah Wishau (Sr./Oak Creek, Wis.) would keep the floor clean with a team leading 23 digs. Molly Peck (Fr./Milwaukee, Wis.) was right behind Wishau with 22 digs.

Taylor Baumgart (So./Burlington, Wis.) would lead another match for the Blue Angels with seven kills. Baumgart would add one block solo as well.

Kelsey Bodart (Jr./Oconto, Wis.) would be on the mark with a Northland College leading 10 assists and three serve aces. Camille Eastburn (Fr./Cedar Rapids, Iowa) would lead the Lumberjills with 15 kills.

The Blue Angels will start Sept.6 off at noon in Ashland, Wis. against Maranatha Baptist University. Mount Mary University will then conclude the Northland College Tournament against Rockford University at 6 pm in the Kendrigan Gymnasium.
