The Bloechl Center will be host to the home opener for the Mount Mary University volleyball team. The Blue Angels will face off against the Foresters of Lake Forest College on Sept. 17.
To this point in the season, the Foresters are (2-10). Don't let Lake Forest College's record fool you, the Foresters have played well against a tough schedule. Brittany Avonts (So./McHenry, Ill.) is leading the Foresters attack with 111 kills and 10 serve aces. Avonts has also been a defensive boost with a team leading seven block solos. Erin Sully (Jr./New Brighton, Minn.) for Lake Forest College is pitching in with 54 kills on the season as well.
The season has started off as an uphill climb for the Blue Angels. The youthfullness of the roster has forced MMU to really focus on communication and overall timing. Although the Blue Angels have started (0-8), they are starting to get the rhythm and hopefully that momentum is building up for a dynamite home opener.
Sarah Wishau (Sr./Oak Creek, Wis.) is on top of the Blue Angels kills this season with 46. Wishau along with Payton Hintz (Fr./Almond, Wis.) lead MMU with nine serve aces, Hintz also tacking on 26 kills on the year. Molly Peck (Fr./Milwaukee, Wis.) has been all over the court picking up 89 digs in the libero role.
