Blue Angels Volleyball Hunting For Victory

Mount Mary University volleyball is headed to Gary, Ind. to play Indiana University Northwest Sept. 23 at 7:00 pm.

When the Blue Angels previously played the Red Hawks, Sarah Wishau (Sr./Oak Creek, Wis.) led the way for MMU with six kills and 17 digs. Indiana University Northwest would be victorious however in a 3-0 match over MMU. The Blue Angels could not get things going in the 25-14, 25-17, 25-14 match in Gary, Ind., but Katie Edwards (Sr./Mackinaw, Ill.) did her best to put her teammates in position as she led MMU with 11 of the team's 14 assists.

This season, the two teams come into the contest without a win, as MMU steps in at 0-13 and the Red Hawks are 0-14 thus far. Both teams are extremely young, as more than 60 percent of each roster are freshmen. Payton Hintz (Fr./Almond, Wis.) is an example of the youthful Navy Halos getting on the right track, she leads MMU with 155 assists and 19 serve aces.

After the Blue Angels square off with the Red Hawks, MMU will head to Hancock, Mich. to play in the Finlandia University Invitational. The invite begin Sept. 26 at 1:00 pm, where the Blue Angels will get the tourney started against host Finlandia University, the first of four games in two days at the invite.
