Triangular Brings Too Tough Teams

Triangular Brings Too Tough Teams

MILWAUKEE -- The first Triangular of the season for Mount Mary University ended with back to back losses for the Blue Angels. Maranatha Baptist University (22-5) picked up both games in the triangular, while the Moody Bible Institute (10-7) split their games winning one against MMU and losing the other to the Sabercats at the Bloechl Center.

MMU (0-22) just could not get into a groove today. The first of the two matches for the Blue Angels was against MBU, who is leading the NCCAA DII Midwest Region in wins. It took a while for MMU to show they were ready to play such a tough opponent, waiting until the 3rd of 3 sets to put up 19 points against the Sabercats. MBU was a tough nut to crack, the team moves the ball all over the court, and have the ability to hit for power on all sides of the net. Hannah Ross (Fr./Campbell, Wis.) did a lot of damage behind the serve line with five service aces against MMU.

Payton Hintz (Fr./Almond, Wis.) led game one with 11 assists for the Blue Angels.

The second match for the Blue Angels did not show the same fight as the first. The game started with Katie Edwards (Sr./Mackinaw, Ill.) at setter, and Hintz on the bench. Edwards did her best to jump start the team's morale, but the Blue Angels ran into a very well-oiled offense courtesy of the Archers. Which prompted Coach Kelsey Peterson to put Hintz back into the match late in the first set.

The final match went 25-10, 25-14. 25-9 for the Archers, and Emily Anderson (Sr./Geneva, Ill.) was on the ball as she set up 25 assists to lead the game for MBI.

The only shinning stat for the Blue Angels in the last match was Sarah Wishau (Sr./Oak Creek, Wis.) had seven kills to lead her team.

Following the triangular, the Blue Angels will face MSOE (8-10) at the Kern Center. The game on Wednesday Oct. 15th begins at 7:00 pm.
