Raiders Come Out Strong Over Blue Angels

MILWAUKEE – A slow start for the Blue Angels leads to a 3-0 loss to MSOE (10-11) tonight at the Kern Center. The loss moves MMU record to 0-23 this season, but with some strong streaks of play in match against the Raiders, it give Blue Angels fans hope for the end of the season.

MSOE applied the pressure quickly, while the Blue Angels kept it close early in the first set, a quick 6 point spurt by the Raiders seemed to make the set out of reach. It would be MMU setter Payton Hintz (Fr./Almond, Wis.) who got things rolling for the Blue Angels with a four point swing making it 14-12 MSOE. That would be the last gasp in the first set for MMU as the Raiders came back with eight straight points and won the set 25-14.

The next two sets were controlled by the Raiders, as MMU could not string more than two consecutive points together for the rest of the match. Abby Born (Fr./Lake Quivira, Kan.) led the MSOE with 16 assists, while her teammates distributed the kills evenly across the roster.

Hintz took control of the game for the Blue Angels scoring a team high of six kills and eight assists. Helping out on the offensive side of the net, Sarah Wishau (Sr./Oak Creek, Wis.) had six kills herself to go along with nine digs. Tonight's performance by Wishau gives her 502 career kills as a Blue Angel.

The Blue Angels will host their final triangular of the season on Friday Oct. 17th. The triangular will include the Blue Angels, and feature Finlandia University and North Central University (Minn.). Friday's matches will also showcase Senior Night to honor Sarah Wishau and Katie Edwards (Sr./Mackinaw, Ill.), which will begin at 4:00 pm.
