Blue Angels Beloit Bound

Blue Angels Beloit Bound

With the 2014 volleyball season winding down for Mount Mary University, the Blue Angels (0-25) are finishing the year on a three game road trip. First on the list is Beloit College who is 2-19 on the season. The Buccaneers will host MMU this Tuesday Oct. 21st at 7:00 pm.

In a season that has been filled with learned lessons, the young Blue Angels might be ready to turn the corner. In last week's Mount Mary Triangular, the Blue Angels lost some hard fought matches, but gained a lot of experience. With Sarah Wishau (Sr./Oak Creek, Wis.) out with an injury in game one of the triangular, the Blue Angels had to adjust by tinkering with the lineup.

Payton Hintz (Fr./Almond, Wis.) stepped up big time, as she was responsible for more than just setting in the new lineup. Hintz still led the team with seven assists in the game, and also stepped up with seven kills to lead the team as well.

The change in roster allowed Taylor Baumgart (So./Burlington, Wis.) to pitch in with five kills and a block solo against North Central University. Sarah Amoroso (Fr./Wauwatosa, Wis.) hit well from the service line in that game, getting two services aces for her team as she tried to turn the tides against the Rams.

All-time the Buccaneers/Blue Angels series is slanted 3-0 for BC. The last match was a sweep for the Bucs, but this year's Blue Angels is a totally new roster and eager to step it up.

After Tuesday's match, the Blue Angels will head to Watertown, Wis. to play Maranatha Baptist University for the fourth time this season. The Sabercats lead the season series at 3-0. The match is on Friday Oct. 24th at 7:00 pm.
