Sabercats Control Match Against Blue Angels

Sabercats Control Match Against Blue Angels

WATERTOWN, Wis. – Tonight the Blue Angels fell to Maranatha Baptist University in a 3-0 match. It was another match where Mount Mary University got the offense rolling just a bit too late.

The fourth match of the year against Maranatha, and it went the same way as the three previous, a 3-0 sweep for the Sabercats. But sparks started to fly again for the Blue Angels. While the first set was a slow start for MMU, 25-10, the second set was not much better at 25-9.

The last set was when MMU got it going. Payton Hintz (Fr./Almond, Wis.) was all over the court for the Blue Angels in the third set turn around. Hintz led MMU with seven digs and six assists, she also kicked in a pair of kills in the match. In that last set, the Blue Angels pushed the limit in the third taking the Sabercats 25-23, but MBU eventually won it.

For two games, Sarah Wishau (Sr./Oak Creek, Wis.) has been out with injury. In the interim, MMU tried to search for a replacement for the career 500 plus killer. They were tough shoes to fill, but tonight the senior came back to help out. Wishau led the team with five kills, and helped with seven kills for her Blue Angels.

Maranatha Baptist University spread the stats around well, playing 16 different Sabercats in the match. Alexis Johnson (Fr./Stephenson, Mich.) led the way with seven kills for her team.

After the Sabercats, MMU will get ready for the season finale. The season's last game will be against Northland International University on Tuesday Oct. 28th at 5:30 pm in Dunbar, Wis.
