Blue Angels Comeback From Behind

MILWAUKEE – The Mount Mary University volleyball team defeated visiting Silver Lake College tonight at the Bloechl Center 3-2. The fans in attendance saw the Blue Angels pull a complete "180" from last Saturday, as they come back after falling behind 2-0 in the first sets. The win moves MMU to 2-8 on the season, and makes the Lakers 4-12.

The victory breaks the Blue Angels four match losing streak, and was the biggest comeback win of the year for MMU. Down 2-0, the Blue Angels came out in the third determined. With seven kills and just a .026 kill percentage, the Blue Angels had to play near perfect everywhere else in the set. The Lakers could not get control in the third as they had 12 errors in the frame alone, leading to a -.195 kill percentage.

After that, the accuracy picked up for MMU finishing with .208 and .200 kill percentages in the fourth and fifth sets respectively.

Tied up at 14 each, the Blue Angels watched the Lakers service error leave the door open for the victory. A subsequent attack error for the Lakers led to the final 16-14 frame, and the Blue Angels second victory of the year.

A lot of Angels getting in the mix offensively, Lauren Harris (Fr./Sheridan, Ill.) led the team with 12 kills and .154 kill percentage. Julia Terasa (Jr./Waukesha, Wis.) finished with a team leading 23 assists on the night.

Payton Hintz (So./Almond, Wis.) continued to take charge, getting 10 kills, 15 assists and a .129 kill percentage.

The long match marks the season highs for the team in kills (40), assists (40) and total blocks (5).

Following the win, the Blue Angels will get ready for the Illinois Institute of Technology Invite. First up for the Blue Angels will be Grace Bible College. The Tigers square off with MMU Sat. Oct 3 beginning at 2:00 pm.
