Bucs Bump Blue Angels

MILWAUKEE – Today at the Reiman Gymnasium, Mount Mary University Volleyball lost to Beloit (6-6) in a 3-0 neutral site match. The loss makes the Blue Angels 2-7 on the 2016 campaign.

The Blue Angels again started off with a lot of energy in the first set. Although the Buccaneers never trailed in match, MMU continued to chip away. Getting two service aces in the set by Katy Carlson (So./Whitewater, Wis.) fueled the Blue Angels offense that had seven team kills and seven team errors on 31 total attacks. The 15 team kills by Beloit meant the difference in the 25-19 set for the Buccaneers.

The offensive attack of Beloit made way to a 25-13 second set with a very accurate 16 team kills and four team errors off of 33 attacks. That accuracy carried over to the third and final set where Beloit hit a team hitting percentage of .409 on their way to a 25-8 set victory and the match sweep.

Lauren Harris (So./Sheridan, Ill.) led the offensive attack for MMU with seven kills off of 29 total attacks. Teammate Marissa Tun (Jr./Greenfield, Wis.) got the offense going with a team leading 11 assists.

Blue Angel Katy Carlson led the game with three service aces and had the most accurate strike for MMU with a kill percentage of .214. Carlson had just one error with four kills off of 14 total attacks to give her team a boost.
