Regents Take Match

ROCKFORD, Ill. – Tonight at the Seaver Gymnasium, Mount Mary University Volleyball lost to host Rockford University 3-0. The loss moves the Blue Angels to (2-8) on the season and gives the Regents their first win of the season as they are now 1-11.

MMU produced their most efficient set of the evening right away. The Blue Angels hit seven team kills with four errors on 28 total attacks on their way to the .107 hitting percentage. The Regents had two more team errors in the set, but came away with the 25-18 winning set.

The Regents reduced their errors in the final two sets while attacking more aggressively. MMU gave up 17 team errors in the final sets as their opponent's hit percentage climbed to a .273 in the third. The accuracy led to 25-16 and 25-15 respective set wins to sweep the set, and get the Regents first win of the 2016 season.

Lauren Harris (So./Sheridan, Ill.) led the Blue Angels as she hit five kills with five errors on 26 total attacks and two service aces. Harris has led MMU all season in kills and is now at a total of 58 kills on the season; over double the second place Blue Angel.

Teammate Katy Carlson (So./Whitewater, Wis.) was the most efficient Blue Angel again. This time Carlson had a .333 hitting percentage with two kills on zero errors with six total attacks. Fellow Blue Angel Payton Hintz (Jr./Almond, Wis.) led her team distributing 14 assists in the match.

Following tonight's match, the Blue Angels will have a day off before heading to Hancock, Mich. to play four games at the Finlandia Invitational. MMU will play two matches on Friday and two on Saturday. Among the opponents at the invitational, the Blue Angels will have rematches with Silver Lake and host Finlandia.
