MILWAUKEE – The Mount Mary University volleyball team lost to host Wisconsin Lutheran College (6-10). The Warriors won the match 3-0, which moves the Blue Angels to 0-9 following tonight's contest at the Wisconsin Lutheran Recreation Complex. MMU was still able to attack accurately throughout the contest, but WLC grabs the win with 37 team kills.

In the first set, the Blue Angels grabbed a 3-1 lead. The Warriors came right back with an 8-2 run to gain control of the set. MMU received a quick surge from Johnelle Suto (Fr./Enterprise, Ore.) when the rookie smashed a service ace into the heart to the opposition.

Following the ace from Suto, the Warriors had 14 team kills and three errors on 24 total attacks. The Blue Angels maintained six team kills and six errors on 24 total attacks. That gave WLC the 25-11 set win to open the night.

WLC took the second set 25-6. The Warriors accurate set featured 11 team kills and one error on their 17 total attacks. Blue Angel Lauren Harris (Jr./Sheridan, Ill.) led the offensive charge in the set with two kills.

Harris parlayed that energy into the third set when she was able to help the Blue Angels attain a 2-1 lead with a kill and a service ace. The Warriors answered back to take a 24-14 lead. Down, but not out, the Blue Angels mustered a 4-point rally facing match point. With junior Marissa Tun (Greenfield, Wis.) at the service line, and a tough front attack, MMU withstood the Warriors until a kill by Riley Olson ended things 25-18.

Harris led the attack for MMU with 10 kills and two errors on 18 total attacks. Fellow Blue Angel Suto helped the Mount Mary offense with a team leading eight assists.

Tun again kept her team in multiple points with a team leading seven digs.

Following tonight's match, the Blue Angels will prepare for Maranatha Baptist University (10-6). The first game at the Bloechl Center for MMU, first serve against the rival Sabercats is set for 7:00 pm on Fri. Sept. 29. Live video and stats will be available for the game at mtmaryathletics.com.
