NCU Nabs Win

MILWAUKEE – Today at the Bloechl Center, the visiting North Central University Rams defeated the Mount Mary University volleyball team by a score of 3-0. The Rams won the set 25-9, 25-18 and 25-18 in their second win of the season. NCU moves to 2-22 while the Blue Angels are now 0-17 on the 2017 campaign.

In the opening set the Rams jumped ahead early. Taking a quick 7-1 lead, NCU attacked without a single error in the entire frame. With eight team kills, the Rams salted away the win in one of team's most accurate set of the season.

The Blue Angels did their best to flip the proverbial script in the second set when they came back from a 3-0 deficit to tie things at 7-7. Following a 5-1 run for the Rams, NCU did not surrender the lead for the rest of the second set. Nipping away, the Blue Angels made thing 24-18, but the Rams ended a quick Blue Angel rally and took 2-0 match lead.

In the final set, the Rams took an early 4-0 lead. While the Blue Angels battled and found themselves down by as much as five points, they came back to cut the Ram lead down to two points. NCU rallied back and pushed the lead out with their 12 team kills on 31 total attacks to take the set and the match.

Lauren Harris (Jr./Sheridan, Ill.) led the Blue Angels attack with seven kills on 19 total attacks. Teammate Payton Hintz (Sr./Almond, Wis.) led her team with nine kills and chipped in nine digs.

Rookie Johnelle Suto (Fr./Enterprise, Ore.) led the team with seven assists.

Following tonight's game, the Blue Angels will prepare for Emmaus Bible College (17-2). The Eagles come to the Bloechl Center tomorrow afternoon when the Blue Angels honor their seniors (Amelia Flint, Payton Hintz, Rachel Barker and Sarah Amoroso).
