Blue Angels Take 2 on Day 1 of Bash

Blue Angels Take 2 on Day 1 of Bash

MILWAUKEE, WI – The Mount Mary volleyball team looked like a force to be reckoned with on Friday. The Blue Angels used a combination of veteran players and promising young contributors to take two decisive wins on the day. Mount Mary easily knocked off both Alverno and Finlandia to even their season record to 3-3.

Mount Mary's only slip up on the day came as early as possible, as the Angels dropped set one to Alverno by a score of 25-12.  The Blue Angels showed no signs of weakness the rest of the day, taking the next six sets they played for 2 match victories.

MMU took the last three sets from the Inferno by scores of 25-20, 25-18, and 25-14.  Brianna Ecker and Kaitlyn Powers would once again provide the thunder at the net with 18 and 12 kills respectively.  Ahlyna Cason continues to pile up digs as she recorded 30 against Alverno.

In the nightcap against the Lions of Finlandia University, MMU would waste no time in dispatching their foes from the Upper Peninsula.  The Angels swept the match by scores of 25-22, 25-14 and 25-22.  The win over Finlandia evened Mount Mary's record at 3-3 on the season.

Ecker and Powers again were the leaders in the kill column, with 15 and 11 each.  Emma White provided 7 kills as well.

The action in the Blue Angel Bash continues tomorrow morning, MMU's first match will be against the Ravens of Anderson University.  Anderson also won two matches on the day over Lawrence University (MMU's second opponent tomorrow) and Alverno.

Mount Mary is scheduled to face Anderson at 10 am and Lawrence at 2:30 pm.  Stay tuned to www.mtmaryathletics.com as the MMU volleyball team looks to continue their winning streak.
