Saturday Sweep of Lawrence highlights Volleyball's Strong Weekend

MILWAUKEE, WI – After an exciting two days of Volleyball, Mount Mary concluded the 2022 Blue Angel bash with a match against the Vikings of Lawrence University. The Blue Angels overpowered the Vikings for a 3-0 sweep. Mount Mary went 3-1 over the two day event and now carries a record of 4-4 on the season.

The only team to finish the round robin event without a blemish were the Ravens of Anderson University, who won all 4 of their  matches.  The Blue Angels tested Anderson in their first match Saturday, pushing Anderson in the third set and nearly forcing a fourth.  Anderson held off Mount Mary in the match by scores of 25-16, 25-12 and 25-23.  

Mount Mary came out energized and sharp for the match against Lawrence, taking three straight sets by scores of 25-15, 25-12, and 25-22.  Statistically it was once again Brianna Ecker and Kaitlyn Powers leading the team with kills.  Ecker recorded 11 kills and Powers 10 in the sweep of the Vikings.

Having strong momentum from winning 3 of 4 matches, the Blue Angel Volleyball team (4-4) will now have 5 days off prior to their next competition.  On September 16th and 17th, Mount Mary will compete in Appleton, at the home of their most recent oppoent, the Lawrence Vikings.  The invite will begin with the Blue Angels facing Rockford University and will also include matches against Northland College, Maranatha Baptist University and once again, the Blue Angels will sqaure off against Lawrence.
