Appleton, WI- The Mount Mary volleyball team went to Lawrence University Tuesday, and displayed some of their best play of the season against the Vikings. Mount Mary cruised to a three set sweep and with their seventh victory of the season have matched their win total from the entire 2021 campaign.
The first set was the most competitive of the evening, with Mount Mary outlasting the Vikings for a 25-23 set victory.
The rest of the night was all Blue Angels as MMU took the next two sets by identical 25-16 scores.
Kaitlyn Powers recorded 14 kills and Emma White added 11. White also recorded 13 assists, she was followed closely by Caitlyn Krell who tallied 12. White and Krell also each had 11 digs as did MMU defensive leader Ahlyna Cason.
Mount Mary (7-11) will return home beginning Friday, October 7th. The Bloechl Center will host a 4 team event over Friday and Saturday. Mount Mary will begin the event at 3 pm Friday against Maranatha Baptist University. The Angels will also face Finlandia, Friday at 7 pm, and Moody Bible Institute, Saturday at 2 pm.
The Blue Angels dropped a five set match to MBU earlier in the season, but defeated both Finlandia and Moody Bible.
