Maranatha Holds off MMU in Friday Evening Match

Milwaukee, WI- The Mount Mary volleyball team hosted Maranatha Baptist University on Friday evening at the Bloechl Center. The Blue Angels hoped to avenge an earlier loss to the Sabercats, but it was not to be on this night. Maranatha won a competitive match by a 3 sets to 1 final.

The Sabercats came to Milwaukee ready to play and took the first two sets by scores of 25-17 and 25-18.  As had been their tendency this season, Mount Mary would not give up, and rallied back to take set 3, the Blue Angels won the set by a score of 25-21.

The fourth set went back and forth with neither team being able to pull away.   Eventually Maranatha found the momentum to finish off the set 25-20 and win the match.

Ava Ramos recorded 24 digs, a season high for her.  Caitlyn Krell had 31 assists which led to 14 kills by Kaitlyn Powers and 11 by Brianna Ecker

These two teams are scheduled to meet three more times during the 2022 season.  The next being this upcoming Thursday, October 13th, in Watertown.

The Blue Angels have business to attend to prior to seeking revenge against the Sabercats however.

Tomorrow at 12 pm, MMU will take on the Lions of Finlandia University at 12 pm at Bloechl.  Mount Mary (7-12) defeated the Lions earlier this season in straight sets.
