Blue Angels take first set but fall in match at Beloit

Beloit,WI - The Beloit Buccaneers defeated the Mount Mary volleyball team on September 20nd in Milwaukee. The Blue Angels traveled to Beloit, hoping to turn the tide and even the season series. MMU took set one, but could not continue the momentum as they dropped the next three sets and the match to the Buccaneers.

The Blue Angels came out of the gates playing very well in Tuesday's match at Beloit.  They took set one by a 25-22 score.  The second and third sets belonged to the home team, Beloit took sets two and three by scores of 25-13 and 25-14 respectively.

Set four was a back and forth undertaking, with the two teams alternating points almost all the way into the twenties.  Perhaps the home crowd was the difference, as Beloit rose up and pulled away slightly for a 25-22 set 4 win, to end the match.

Kaitlyn Powers continued her strong debut season for MMU as she contributed 11 kills.  Emma White had 19 assists and Ava Ramos 28 digs to round out the statistical leaders for MMU.

Mount Mary (8-18) has three regular season matches remaining before heading to the Coast to Coast Conference tournament.  The first two will be Saturday, October 29th, at Wisconsin Lutheran College.  The Blue Angels will face Carroll University at 10 am and Milwaukee School of Engineering at 4 pm.  All coverage and live links will be available at www.mtmaryathletics.com
