Volleyball Recap: Wisconsin Lutheran College Warrior Invite

Milwaukee, WI- The Mount Mary Volleyball team made the short trip to Wisconsin Lutheran College for two matches on Saturday.  They would be the last regular season road matches of the season for MMU, the Blue Angels showed flashes of great play on Saturday but fell in both matches, to Carroll and MSOE respectively.

The day's first match pitted Mount Mary against the Pioneers of Carroll University.  Mount Mary hung tough through the first two sets, as Carroll beat MMU by scores of 25-19 and 25-20.  Carroll then took the third by a 25-16 score to end the match.

The statistical leaders for MMU in the match were Brianna Ecker with 8 Kills, Emma White with 11 assists and Ava Ramos with 18 digs.

The second match of the day saw Mount Mary take on the Milwaukee School of Engineering.  It was the second meeting for the two squads, MSOE defeated Mount Mary on September 24th.

The script was not flipped unfortunately in meeting number two as MSOE defeated the Blue Angels in three consecutive sets.

The Raiders of MSOE came out fast and took the first two sets by scores of 25-15 each.  Mount Mary came alive in set number 3.  Pushing the Raiders in what was a back and forth set, MSOE would hold on for a 25-23 win in the set, unfortunately for MMU, and ended the match in three sets.

Kaitlyn Powers had 9 kills against MSOE, and she was also named to the all-tournament team.

Mount Mary (8-20) will have one regular season match remaining, at home Monday evening, October 31st at 6 pm.   It will be the fifth meeting of the season between MMU and Maranatha Baptist.  Also, it will be "Thriller Night" in honor of Halloween, and the three best fan costumes will be recognized with prizes.

Then next weekend, the Blue Angels will compete in the C2C Conference Tournament beginning November 4th.  The seeding and match ups for the tournament will be announced Monday.
