Milwaukee, WI – The Mount Mary University Volleyball team made the short trip to downtown Milwaukee for two matches on Saturday at Milwaukee School of Engineering. The Blue Angels dropped both matches on the day, to host team MSOE and Lawrence University.
In the day's first match, the Blue Angels competed in all three sets, but the hosts from MSOE were slightly better in the early contest. MSOE took the match in straight sets by scores of 25-17, 25-21, and 25-13.
Statistically, Brianna Ecker led MMU with 9 kills, Emma White had 11 assists and Harlee McDowell paced the Blue Angels with 13 digs.
The day's second match up saw Mount Mary take on Lawrence University. It would be the third meeting between the two teams this season. At Mount Mary on September 8th, Lawrence defeated MMU in 5 sets. At Lawrence on September 15th, Mount Mary played their best match of the season, and defeated the Vikings in straight sets.
The match's first set was very close, Mount Mary showed the necessary toughness to pull out the set by a 25-23 score. Lawrence turned the tide in the match at that point, the Vikings would rally and take the next three sets to win the match. Lawrence won the final three sets by scores of 25-21, 25-17 and 25-13.
Statistical leaders for Mount Mary against Lawrence were Brianna Ecker with 18 kills (Kaitlyn Powers added 14), Emma White with 28 assists, and Ecker and Harlee McDowell with 17 digs each.
