Volleyball sweeps Lawrence for second straight win

Milwaukee, WI – The Mount Mary and Lawrence University volleyball teams have become most familiar foes this season.  Wednesday evening's match at MMU was the fourth meeting between the two teams.  Lawrence had won two of the first three meetings, but Mount Mary played some of their best volleyball of the season on Wednesday, and swept Lawrence in three straight sets.

Mount Mary started the evening off very well, pulling out a close first set by a 25-23 score.  Set two was even more exciting and produced another positive result, the Blue Angels survived a match point at 24-25, and took the second set by a score of 27-25.

Riding the wave of the two close wins, MMU kept the positive momentum going in the third set.  Mount Mary was too much for Lawrence on this night, as the Blue Angels took set three by a 25-21 score, to sweep the match.

Brianna Ecker was outstanding in the match, with 20 kills, bringing her career total to 939 which leads Mount Mary all time.  Ecker added 21 digs to lead Mount Mary, while Harlee McDowell and Emma White each contributed 16 digs to the winning effort.  Both Blue Angel setters were spot on as well, White tallied 17 assists and Caitlyn Krell added 15.
