Make it Three: Volleyball wins at Moody Bible

Chicago, IL- Riding the wave of two consecutive victories, the Mount Mary Volleyball team headed to the Windy City for a rematch with the Archers of Moody Bible Institute.  Mount Mary defeated Moody on September 28th, the Blue Angels doubled down across the border, and knocked off Moody again, by scores of 25-10, 27-29, 25-19 and 25-10.

The Blue Angels have now won three consecutive matches, a feat not accomplished since October of 2012. 

MMU came out red hot in set number one, running away from Moody by a 25-10 score.  Set two was much closer, MMU fought off three match points, but Moody prevailed by a final score of 29-27 and evened the match.

Set three saw the Blue Angels rebound quickly, taking the third by a final score of 25-19.  Mount Mary continued to roll through set four, dominating the fourth set by a score of 25-10 to end the match.

Statistically, Brianna Ecker once again paced the Blue Angels with nine kills, bringing her career total to 948.  Elizabeth Irving led Mount Mary in digs with 13, Harlee McDowell had 11 and Ecker added ten.  The trend of the dual Mount Mary setters with double digit assists continued as well, as Caitlyn Krell had 17 and Emma White tallied 11.

Having completed the first three match win streak in eleven seasons, Mount Mary (5-12) will return home on October 13th looking for a fourth straight win.  Their opponent will be Maranatha Baptist University, and it will be the MMU Volleyball program's annual pink out night.  All fans are encouraged to wear pink in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  The match will begin at 5 pm and all live coverage of Blue Angel Volleyball can be found on www.mtmaryathletics.com
