Rockford takes four set match over Blue Angels

Rockford, IL- On Saturday, September 9th, the Rockford University Regents defeated the MMU volleyball team in four games.  On Tuesday night, the Blue Angels headed to Rockford hoping to turn the tables.  The match was once again four sets, but Mount Mary came up just short, falling by scores of 25-13, 25-19, 24-26 and 25-14.

The first two sets went to the Regents, they came out strong on their home court and controlled the play early in the match.  Mount Mary would not give in and fought hard in set number 3, pulling out an exciting 26-24 win to extend the match to a 4th set.

The homestanding Regents came alive once again in set 4, taking the fourth set by a score of 25-14 to end the match.

Brianna Ecker paced Mount Mary with 11 kills.  Ecker now has 983 kills, sitting 17 shy of the career benchmark of 1000.   Caitlyn Krell had 14 assists and Emma White added 12.  Ecker added an amazing 27 digs, to increase her all-time program lead.

The Blue Angels (5-15) next match will once again be on the road, Friday evening October 20th.  MMU will take on the Sabercats of Maranatha Baptist University in Watertown at 5 pm.  On Friday, October 13th, Mount Mary fell to Maranatha at the Bloechl Center, so the Angels will be seeking a reversal of that result.  All coverage of Blue Angel volleyball can be found here on www.mtmaryathletics.com
