WEST ALLIS, Wis. – A full Mount Mary Cross Country squad took to Greenfield Park Saturday morning for Wisconsin Lutheran's Warrior Invite, and with everyone running, the Blue Angels finished 15th out of 30 teams with participants in the race.

The race itself presented several challenges—temperatures in the mid-70s paired with dew points in the low-70s made the air heavy and difficult to breathe. Several posted times across all teams were slower than average, as head coach Eugene Miranda said it was likely the toughest October race his program has ever experienced.

Senior Emily Barker (Oconomowoc, Wis.) was MMU's top finisher, clocking in at 33 for 37th place overall. Freshman Natalie Guyette (Shiocton, Wis.) was next in 84th place with 27:45.7, and classmate Hayley Hove (Golden Valley, Minn.) finished just over 20 seconds later at 28:17.9 in 94th place.

"Even though nobody on our team returned a personal best time, it is noteworthy that Natalie ran almost exactly the same time that she had returned at the Concordia meet," Miranda said. "Considering the vast difference in weather conditions, it is a remarkable accomplishment on Natalie's part."

As a team, Mount Mary finished in 15th place with 450 points, 22 points behind host WLC.

The Blue Angels will be back in action Saturday morning in Racine at UW-Parkside's Lucian Rosa Invitational. The women's collegiate race is scheduled to begin at 11 am.
