WINNECONNE, Wis. – Two Mount Mary harriers took part in the UW-Oshkosh Open Friday night at the Lake Breeze Golf Course.

Seniors Emily Barker (Oconomowoc, Wis.) and Vanessa Schellinger (West Bend, Wis.) were looking to improve their times this season, nearing the three-week mark before the NCAA Midwest Regional competition in mid-November.

The added race proved beneficial, as Barker finished with her best time in a 6-kilometer race this season, coming in at 24:07.5 and 16th place overall. Schellinger also set her season-best mark in a 6K with a time of 26:49.6.

The race featured teams from University of Wisconsin, UW-Stevens Point and host UW-Oshkosh, as well as the pair of Mount Mary representatives.

The Blue Angel cross country team has also added a Friday night race at Northern Illinois University's Huskie Open on November 8, before heading to Rock Island, Ill. for the NCAA Regional the following weekend.
