Focusing For More Improvements

Last weekend, the unseasonably warm and humid conditions were an obstacle that added to the rugged terrain. But as the old saying goes, "if you do not like the weather in the Midwest, wait ten minutes." The next race for Mount Mary University is expected to be almost the exact opposite weather, nearly freezing with a tiny chance of sun. This Saturday Oct. 4th, the Blue Angels will be trudging through the Warrior Invitational at Greenfield Park in West Allis, Wis. with the gun set to go off at 11:00 am.

Throughout the 2014 season, the Blue Angels continue to cut down on their times. The astonishing fact is that, pace wise, MMU on average has better times at six kilometer tracks than five. Leading the way this year is Hayley Hove (So./Golden Valley, Minn.), averaging 4 minutes and 42 seconds per kilometer on race day.

Right behind Hove's impressive pace is Danielle Sherrer (So./Milwaukee, Wis.) with a 4 minute and 51 second average per kilometer, Natalie Guyette (So./Shiocton, Wis.) is right behind Sherrer's heels with an average of 4 minutes and 57 seconds per kilometer.

This will be the fourth race of the year for the Blue Angels, and with a familiar course and last year's finish of 15 of a possible thirty, hopes are high. The team continues to cut down times and increase focus exponentially when the gun goes off. A great recipe for solid team.

Following the Warrior Invitational, the Blue Angels will be running in the Lucian Rosa Invitational on the beautiful UW Parkside campus and cross country course in Somers, Wis. Start time for the race on Oct. 11th is 11:00 am.
