Personal Records Shrinking By The Race

Personal Records Shrinking By The Race

SOMERS, Wis. – It is the second year in a row for the Blue Angels at the Wayne E. Dannehl National Cross Country Course on UW Parkside's campus. This year's race was actually five kilometers, and the track today had some vertical terrain.

The Blue Angels finished four of five runners; injuries prevented the fifth runner from finishing. Unfortunately, the consequence is that MMU did not qualify for a team finish, thus not placing as a unit.

On the upside, there were some amazing finishing times for the Blue Angels. Natalie Guyette (So./Shiocton, Wis.) continued to impress MMU fans with an NCAA personal record 21:46.2. Taking off nearly two minutes from her previous five kilometer race, and finishing among some NCAA Division I talent. Guyette also set the bench mark for the best time of the season for MMU in both finishing five kilometer time and time per kilometer (04:21.0).

Another Blue Angel that continues to cut her times is Danielle Sherrer (Jr./Milwaukee, Wis.). Finishing with a season's best 23:08.1 on five kilometer races, Sherrer keeps upping her impressive level of performance race after race.

Lily Lopez (Fr./Milwaukee, Wis.) suffered an injury in today's race, and could not finish. Denisse Hernandez (So./Brownsville, Texas) improved her pace and finished at 29:45.0. Zahra Said (Fr./Milwaukee, Wis.) ended the race with 32:03.1 to finish it off for the Blue Angels.

The Blue Angels will set their sights high for the Wisconsin Private College Championship. With a healthier roster, and runners continuing to improve their finishes, the Blue Angels will be ready for the race in West Allis, Wis. which begins at 11:00 am on Oct. 11th.
