Cutting Time, Ready For WPCC

Cutting Time, Ready For WPCC

It is time for the Blue Angels to test their improving times against the state's top private colleges. This year the Wisconsin Private Colleges Championships will be in the familiar Greenfield Park, which the Blue Angels ran two weeks prior. The race in West Allis, Wis. will start at 11:00 am this Saturday Oct. 18th.

In the last race for the Blue Angels, some top times were recorded. Most notably in the Lucian Rosa Invitational, Natalie Guyette (So./Shiocton, Wis.) set her NCAA personal record and the Blue Angels season best with a five kilometer time of 21:46.2. The accomplishment just capped off the season to this point for Guyette, who has cut time per kilometer in every single race this year. Guyette's efforts were good enough to earn her the Association of Division III Independents Cross County "Player of the Week."

Danielle Sherrer (Jr./Milwaukee, Wis.) is cutting time as well, her last race was a season's best, and just a few paces behind Guyette with a finishing time of 23:08.1. Sherrer and Guyette times were so good that the two Blue Angels finished ahead of multiple NCAA Division II runners.

Although the team did not receive an official finish in the last event, the Blue Angels are looking to have a full five plus runners for this week's WPCC. With three of the teams five runners finishing closer and closer to the leader, this six kilometer race could be the top team performance of the year for the Blue Angels.

Following the WPCC, the Blue Angels will have almost a month to prepare for the NCAA Division III Midwest Regional. The regional will be held in Winneconne, Wis. and the gun will sound at 11:00 am.
