Blue Angels Finish 10th

Blue Angels Finish 10th

GREEN BAY, Wis. – As the new season begins once more at the Tom Barry Invitational for Mount Mary University cross country, the Blue Angels finished 10th place out of 10 teams in their season opener.

The Blue Angels may have finished in last, but the top half of the lineup has really stepped up their game early on in 2015-16. In a season filled with "firsts" the Blue Angels for the first time ever had two runners finish under 22 minutes in a race. Newcomer Jori Galles (So./Waukesha, Wis.) led the way for MMU with a 21st place finish and a final time of 20:48.0. Last season's Association of Division III Independents All-Association honorable mention Natalie Guyette (Jr./Shiocton, Wis.) finished in 31st place with a 21:27.9 time.

Danielle Sherrer (Sr./Milwaukee, Wis.) continued her low times with 23:45.7 finish, and Hayley Hove (Jr./Golden Valley, Minn.) followed right behind Sherrer with a 24:16.6 finish.

The muggy afternoon may have been a hindrance, but the Blue Angels have made some big steps from seasons past. With some of the region's top talent at the race, a 21st and 31st place finish are some of the best finishes for the Blue Angels against such talent. If the theme of continually cutting times from last year, transfers onto 2015-16, some good finishes should be ahead for MMU cross country.

The next race for the Blue Angels will be Sat. Sept. 12 at the Falcon Invite. NACC opponent Concordia Wisconsin will play host, with the gun scheduled for 11:00 am.
